HIGHLIGHTS
JUBILEE, SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES, 10 YEARS OF THE PARISH CHURCH
Year 2025 comes with some important celebrations for Ol Moran. First of all, the JUBILEE FOR THE HOLY YEAR 2025, together with the whole Catholic Church. Secondly, all Dioceses of Eastern Africa are celebrating the 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES. Furthermore, Ol Moran Parish is also celebrating the 10th ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEDICATION OF THE PARISH CHURCH, which was consecrated on 17th May 2015.
During this year, there will be some events to celebrate these occasions:
- The PARISH FEAST of Saint Mark the Evangelist, on Sunday 18th May, with the Holy Mass by the Bishop of Nyahururu Joseph Mbatia. On that day, the Bishop will also bless the new Dais built by the local community for outdoor events.
- FEAST OF HOLY MARRIAGE, on Saturday 16th Twelve couples will receive the Sacrament of Marriage all together.
- PILGRIMAGE TO VENICE & ROME for the Jubilee 2025, by a group of seven representatives of the Parish, between end September and begninning of October.
- PARISH PILGRIMAGE to a National Shrine together with leaders, catechists and members of the Small Christian Communities.


TUMAINI ACADEMY DEVELOPMENT
The Parish School Tumaini Academy is growing not only in number of pupils, but also in terms of quality education and facilities. Furthermore, Tumaini Academy is preparing to start also the Senior School, starting from January 2026.
Currently, the school is developing some essential facilities:
- SCIENCE & COMPUTER LABORATORY, required for the Junior and Senior Schools.
- A new block for FOUR CLASSROOM for the Junior School. Three classrooms are completed and functional, the fourth one is under construction.
- According to the development plan, the School is committed to add more CLASSROOMS for the Senior School, as well as for the Nursery School, more TOILETS, Teachers’ HOUSING, and a permanent ADMINISTRATION BLOCK, as soon as funds are available.
The School is developing also the SPORTS ACADEMY, statred in 2024, aiming to foster local talents and giving opportunities of personal development, integration and exchange with other institutions and sport groups. The school playground is equiped with a football and rugby pitch, basketball and volleyball court, racing track.


HEKIMA HOUSE EDUCATION CENTRE: TEACHERS TRAINING
Hekima House Education centre is developing as a new institution offering higher education, professional training, especially for teachers.
- In September 2024 the three year DTE Course (DIPLOMA OF TEACHERS EDUCATION), for ECDE and Primary pre-service teachers, was started and the intake is still ongoing.
- During school holiday, Hekima offers the UPGRADE COURSE for ECDE and Primary Teachers, from Certificate to Diploma in Teacher Education.
- Other opportunities include: Diploma in Psychological Counselling course, Certified Professional Mediator course, Junior Cathechists Training, basic professional traning for catering, computering and tailoring.

FORMATION OF THE NEW CATECHISTS OF THE DEANERY
At Hekima House, Ol Moran Parish is offering the JUNIOR CATECHISTS TRAINING for the five Parishes of Ng’arua deanery.
- This year, 38 new Catechists will graduate and will be ready to be taken into pastoral service in their respective Parishes.
- Ng’arua Deanery has also published new PRAYER BOOKS in English and in Swahili for families, catechumens, Small Christian Communities, groups, associations, schools, and for personal prayer.

TAILORING WORKSHOP
The Sisters Servants of the Visitation have started at Ol Moran a new working activity that involves girls from the local community, for the production of school uniforms and other items.
The girls employed at the workshop were trained with the basic traning for tailoring which is offered at Hekima House Education Centre.

PARISH FARM
The Parish Farm is an important working activity for self-reliance of Ol Moran Parish, which is also offering ideas and technical experience for farming to the local community.
Lately, Ol Moran Parish Farm has been developing two new activities:
-
- DRIP IRRIGATION for both vegetables and fuit trees, making use of harvested rain water and Bore Hole water.
- BEEKEEPING: this activity started with a specific training of some members of the working staff. Forty beehives have been posed into two new apiaries, that can host up to 35 beehives each, for production of honey and other wax items.
- TREE NURSERY & ORCHARD for production of trees for forestation and fruits, with a special investment on trees for Macadamia, Dragon Fruit, Avocado, Mango, Orange, Papaya, and others.
