Ol Moran Mission has been always committed to promoting Education and School development for the local communities.
THE SCHOOL SUPPORT PROGRAM
Ol Moran Mission is coordinating a number of project for school development through a specific program called SSP, School Support Program.
The main projects of this program are:
- BURSARIES for deserving students but financially challenged.
- Building of SCHOOL FACILITIES especially in the needy schools in the remote areas.
- FEEDING PROGRAM in the needy school, which favors also school attendance.
- SPIRITUAL assistance and Pastoral work in primary and secondary schools, for both pupils and teachers.
- Parish Educational Institutions
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SSP
To support the SSP projects:
- BURSARIES for students: Euro 200 per year.
- Any contribution for school development projects and Feeding Program.
The PARISH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS represent the major and most effective effort of Ol Moran Mission towards promotion and development of Education:
- The Parish School TUMAINI ACADEMY
- The new HEKIMA HOUSE EDUCATION CENTRE

TUMAINI ACADEMY
TUMAINI ACADEMY is the Parish School of Ol Moran.
- Tumaini is a comprehensive school offering Nursery, Primary and Junior School. It is a Catholic School, registered by the Ministry of Education, mixed, day & boarding.
- The Parish school started in 2023. Enrollment in 2025 is of 375 pupils, with 18 full time teachers.
- Main objective of Tumaini Academy is to offer Quality Education which can be accessible to the local community.
- The Boarding, started in 2020, offers accommodation to pupils coming from afar, or even from challenged family backgrounds (nomadism, home violence, early marriages, FGM, poverty). The boarding is also set as a Rescue Centre.
NAME, MOTTO, LOGO
- Official Name: TUMAINI ACADEMY – Comprehensive, Mixed, Day & Boarding, Catholic School.
- Motto: “Furahini katikaTumaini” – Rejoice in Hope (Rm 12:12)
- TUMAINI, in Swahili language, means HOPE.
SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT
Currently, the School is developing the follwing projects:
- SPORTS ACADEMY, with football, rugby, basketball, racing track, etc., with the purpose of fostering local talents and giving the pupils opportunities of personal development, integration, exchange with other sport groups and institutions.
- SCHOOL FARM for agricultural activities for learning.
- Tumaini is also preparing for offering the SENIOR SCHOOL starting in January 2026.


BUILDINGS & FACILITIES
The School is also developing the following facilities:
- SCIENCE & COMPUTER LABORATORY, which is a requirement for Junior and Senior School.
- New CLASSROOMS for the Junior School.
According to the development plan, more facilities are needed:
- More TOILETS
- More CLASSROOMS, especially for Junior, Senior and Nursery School.
- TEACHERS HOUSING, especially in consideration of the boarding section.
- ADMINISTRATION BLOCK for school offices, staff room, archivium.

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO TUMAINI
Tumaini Academy can be supported through the following channels:
- BURSARIES for needy pupils: Euro 200 per year.
- ACTA PROJECT, for “Adopting a Teacher’s Desk”: euro 1,500 per year, as a contribution to the fund for the remunaration of the teachers. With such contribution, the school is able to assure an adequate salary to the teachers keeping moderate the rate of school fees.
- Contribution to the fund for building new facilities.
- Any contribution for school material, books and school activities.

HEKIMA HOUSE EDUCATION CENTRE
HEKIMA HOUSE was opened in 2010 as a boarding facility for students attending Ol Moran High School, and it served to that purpose until the end of year 2023.
- Currently Hekima House is developing educational activities of higher level, for professional training of nursery and primary teachers. In September 2024 the three year course for pre-service teachers wa started, but also training for up-grade of teachers.
- Hekima House is affiliated to Mary Immaculate TTC of Nanyuki, in the Archdiocese of Nyeri, as it aims to become an independent college.
- Hekima House is also offering other opportunities of professional formation, such as Diploma in Psychological Counselling, Certified Professional Mediator course, Junior Catechist Training, basic professional training for computering, catering and tailoring.
